A glitch text effect that is still readable

Most glitch text effects are so busy that the word is only legible for a frame. This one is timed the other way round: the chaos is at the edges. The word flickers in through RGB-split ghosts and two slices of the letters shifting sideways, then it holds — sharp, with pink and cyan copies left six pixels off either side so even a still frame shows the colour split. Mid-hold it twitches once, and at the end it tears apart and flickers out.

The word, the sub line beneath it, both ghost colours and the type size are named controls, and every layer of the effect — the ghosts, the slices, the scan bars — is driven by the same word, so typing a new headline changes all of them at once. There is no copy-paste Unicode here: it is a video of your word glitching, exported as an MP4.

Three steps to your glitch text effect

Type the word
One word or a short phrase works best at display size. The Size slider runs from 200 to 340, and long words shrink to fit the frame.

Add the sub line
The small line under the word — a date, a time, a tagline — fades in during the hold and out before the exit.

Pick the two glitch colours and export
Accent and Second colour drive the RGB-split ghosts and the scan bars. Keep pink and cyan or match your palette.
