Slow Zoom fills the frame with the artwork and pushes in, drifts or breathes — the Canvas you see most often. Parallax Card floats the cover as a card over its own blur, tilting with a light sweeping across. Vinyl Spin makes it the label of a record turning under a tonearm. Particle Drift sends dust, stars or embers across a blurred backdrop while the cover breathes in the middle. Glitch hits it with scanlines, RGB splits and sliced bands in short bursts, and Film adds grain, a light leak and the jitter of a projector gate. Spotify plays a Canvas on repeat, so any jump at the join shows every three to eight seconds. Each style here is built to arrive back exactly where it started: the record turns a whole number of times, the push-in eases out and back, the light leaks begin and end off-frame, the liquid runs on a closed path and the particles drift on a period equal to the clip. Beat pulse keeps time too — 3, 5 and 8 seconds are all whole bars at 120 BPM, so the join lands on a beat rather than between two.

The layout is built at 1080×1920, the size Spotify recommends, and only offered at 9:16 because that is the only shape a Canvas can be. The lengths are the three that fit the 3 to 8 second window. The export is an H.264 MP4 with no audio track at all, since a Canvas plays silent under the song. Even the free 720×1280 file clears Spotify's 720-pixel minimum — some free generators export below it and leave you to check the file.

What size is a Spotify Canvas?+

The Spotify Canvas size is 9:16 portrait: Spotify recommends 1080×1920 pixels and accepts down to 720×1280, and those are the only dimensions worth exporting. Here the free export is 720×1280, which clears the minimum, and any paid plan exports the same Canvas at 1080×1920; Pro adds 4K, which Spotify scales down. There is no other aspect ratio in the tool because a Canvas cannot be any other shape.

How long should a Spotify Canvas be?+

Between 3 and 8 seconds — Spotify rejects anything outside that window. The tool offers 3, 5 and 8 seconds and defaults to 8, the roomiest: at 8 seconds the record turns twice, the light leak makes a full pass and the loop repeats less often. Every length loops without a seam, so a 3-second Canvas is fine for a simple push-in and 8 for the styles with more going on.

How do I upload a Canvas to Spotify?+

Download the MP4 from the tool, then open Spotify for Artists, choose the track, go to Canvas and upload the file. You need artist access to the profile, and a Canvas can only be added to a track that is already live or delivered. Spotify may take a little while to review it before it shows in the app. Nothing needs converting first: the file is already 9:16, 3 to 8 seconds, H.264 and silent.

Does a Spotify Canvas have sound?+

No. A Canvas plays silently under the song, and Spotify's guidelines call for no audio. The export from this tool has no audio track at all — not a muted one — so there is nothing to strip before uploading. If you want the artwork to move in time, Beat pulse nudges it on a steady 120 BPM; for a video that reacts to the actual song, use the Music Visualizer instead.

Is there a watermark on free Canvases?+

Can I put the song title or artist name on the Canvas?+

Yes, one line of up to 60 characters, set in the typeface of the style you choose. It is empty by default because most Canvases carry no text — the cover does the talking. Bear in mind the Now Playing screen lays the track title, progress bar and controls over the bottom of the frame: switch on Show Spotify safe area to see exactly where, and use Vinyl Spin's Close-up variant if you want the caption at the top instead.

Can I use my own video or a music file?+

Not in this tool. The input is the cover art — JPG, PNG or WebP — and all the motion is generated from it. Beat pulse is a steady synthetic pulse rather than a reaction to your track. If you want a Canvas made from your song's own audio, the Music Visualizer takes an MP3 or WAV and exports at 9:16; for a loop cut from your own footage, a general video editor is the better fit.

Can I use the same loop for Reels, TikTok or Shorts?+

Yes. It is a 9:16 MP4, the same frame those apps use, so it works as the background of a release teaser or a story. Add the song in the app you post from, since the export is silent. For a teaser with the track already in it, the Music Visualizer exports 9:16 with audio.

How do you make sure the Canvas loops seamlessly?+

By construction rather than by hiding the cut. Every animation in every style either ends on the value it started with, completes whole turns — the record spins exactly twice in 8 seconds — or starts and ends outside the frame, as the light leaks do. The liquid background moves along a closed path so its last frame is its first, and the particles drift on a period equal to the clip. All 24 variants were measured first frame against last at 8 seconds and match; the only difference you could find is film grain, which is random on every frame by design.

What cover file works best?+

A square JPG, PNG or WebP around 1,000 pixels on a side — the shape release artwork already is. The file is scaled to at most 1,024 pixels for the preview and the render. Portrait or landscape images are cropped to fit where a style needs a square, and a PNG with transparency is accepted. The colours are read from the image automatically; a black-and-white cover keeps each style's own palette.

What is the Spotify safe area?+

The parts of a Canvas that the Now Playing screen covers: a header strip across the top, and the track title, progress bar and player controls across the bottom — roughly the top 13 percent and the bottom 30 percent of the frame. The Show Spotify safe area switch shades those bands over the preview so you can judge a caption or a detail. It is an overlay only and never appears in the export.

What does Beat pulse do if there is no sound?+

It nudges the artwork on a steady 120 BPM pulse — the record label, the floating card, the cover in the middle of the particles — so the loop has a heartbeat even though the file is silent. It is off by default because a Canvas is usually slow and ambient. 3, 5 and 8 seconds are all whole bars at 120 BPM, so the loop's join lands on a beat.

Do I need an account?+

Not to use the tool: you can drop in a cover, try every style and preview the loop without signing in. Downloading needs a free account. A credit pack or paid plan adds the three premium styles and removes the mark, any paid plan adds 1080×1920 and commercial use, and Pro adds 4K.

Can I use the Canvas commercially?+

Yes, on any paid plan. Those exports are 1080×1920 with no watermark and cleared for commercial use — a Canvas on a track you earn royalties from, a label's release series, or Canvases you make for clients. Free exports, and clean exports from a credit pack alone, are for personal use. The artwork itself is yours to clear: the tool does not check who owns the cover, so use art you have the rights to publish.
