About this chapter
Four short gags about Dorian Vale, a centuries-old vampire who runs a night bakery: a customer asks him to taste the new garlic bread, his oven door shows no reflection when he checks the cake, sunrise sends him diving under the counter just as a delivery arrives, and a little girl gives him the first picture he has ever seen of his own face.
Drawn in the Chibi style with the 4-panel strip page format: each page is one strip of four stacked panels with the punchline in the last one, and small sound effects such as SNIFF, HISS, THUD and TACK.
How it was made: Dorian comes from the Comic Studio character library — the same character who appears in Guardians of Pine Hollow, redrawn here as a chibi. The chapter was written as one short paragraph per strip; the studio turned each paragraph into one strip and kept his black hair, red eyes and flour-dusted apron in all four.
