WHAT IT IS
Why most aura edits look fake, and what this one does differently
The giveaway in a bad aura edit is a hard rainbow outline traced around the subject, which is a selection stroke rather than light. Real aura portraits came out of an instant camera that exposed colored light onto the film alongside the sitter, so the color behaved like light: it bloomed, it was brightest just above the head, it overlapped the edge of the hair and shoulders instead of stopping at them, and it blended continuously between hues. This template reproduces that behavior. The face is kept warm and correctly lit, because a portrait where the skin has gone magenta stops being a portrait, and the color is allowed to sit over the silhouette so the subject appears inside the field rather than cut out and pasted onto it.
