How to Use Music Studio

From a song to a finished music video: every step, every setting, and what each one costs.

Music Studio storyboard with shot times that start and end on the beat

1. Get the music in

Open Music Studio from the workbench. There are two tabs: Music, for making a song, and Music Video. You can start a video either way:

  • Upload a track in the Music Video tab: MP3, WAV or M4A, up to 6 minutes and 30 MB. The song must be yours or used with permission.
  • Make a song in the Music tab: write lyrics (up to 3,000 characters) or let the AI lyric writer draft them for free, type "/" to add [Intro], [Verse], [Pre-Chorus], [Chorus], [Bridge] or [Outro], pick genre, mood and instrument tags or type your own style, choose Song or Instrumental and the voice (auto, female or male). Each run gives two versions. A 30-second preview costs 15 credits and a full song 60 credits.
  • Every song in your list, uploaded or made, has a Make a music video button that opens the video with it.

2. Pick the part to film

Drag on the waveform to choose the section of the song for this video: at least 8 seconds and at most 60. For a longer piece, make each section as its own video.

3. Read the beat (free)

Music Studio decodes the audio in your browser and finds the BPM, the beat positions and the sections. It also suggests the feeling, moods, genre and a music video type: Story, Performance, Abstract or Mixed. Every field can be changed; the BPM accepts 40 to 220.

4. Choose the cast, style and shape

  • Up to 3 characters: pick from 12 original characters, or upload an image of your own and name it.
  • One of 12 visual styles, such as neon noir, 90s cel anime, claymation, watercolor and comic ink.
  • The shape of the video: 9:16, 16:9 or 1:1.
  • Optionally describe the idea for the video in your own words (up to 2,000 characters).

5. Edit the storyboard (free)

You get an outline for each section of the song, then a list of shots. Each shot starts on a beat and has a character, action, setting and look you can rewrite. Split a shot and the new cut snaps to the nearest beat; delete the ones you do not want. Choose slow, default or fast cutting to change how long the shots are. How the cuts are timed.

6. Draw the scenes

Each shot is drawn as a still with your characters and style, at 13 credits per image. Redo any scene you do not like without redoing the rest. A scene can stay a still in the final video, shown with a slow push-in.

7. Animate the shots you want

Turn any scene into a 5-second video clip. You choose the video model and quality, and the price is on the button: MiniMax H3 costs 20 credits at 480p or 40 credits at 720p per clip; Seedance 2.0 costs more. The final video always uses your song as the audio, not the video model's sound.

8. Add lyrics and export

Paste your lyrics and they are spread across the section as line-by-line subtitles, each line starting on a beat. Export renders an MP4 in your browser (Chrome, Edge or Safari 16.4 and later) with your song underneath. Exports carry a small LazyKiwi mark for now.

What it costs

Prices can change; the workbench always shows the current price before you generate.

What it does not do yet

  • Lip-synced singing: performance shots show singing, but mouths are not matched to the words.
  • Exports without the LazyKiwi mark.
  • Opening a project on another device: projects are saved in your browser, so come back on the same one.
  • Cloning a real singer's voice: not offered, and prompts should not ask for one.
