One photo, nine Instagram posts.
Upload a picture, we crop it to a square and cut it into a 3×3 grid — left to right, top to bottom — so it rebuilds on your profile. Download a zip of all nine tiles. The file never leaves this browser.
What it is
A puzzle grid, not an outpaint.
An extender invents extra sky. This does the other job: it takes the picture you already have, centres a square crop, and slices it into the nine squares Instagram will tile on a profile. Post them in order and the full image reads again on the grid.
How it works
Build a grid in three steps
Upload a photo
Wider or taller than square is fine. We cover-crop to the centre.
Preview the nine tiles
Row 1 left to right, then row 2, then row 3 — the order Instagram expects.
Download the zip
Nine JPEGs, named by row and column. Post them in that order.
Cover crop
The square is taken from the centre
Instagram's profile grid is square. A 16:9 landscape is cropped equally on the sides; a tall portrait loses top and bottom. What you see in the preview is what ships.

Posting order
Left to right, top to bottom
Files are named row1-col1 through row3-col3. Upload row 1 first (left, middle, right), then row 2, then row 3.

Sliced on your machine
There is no upload and no AI fill. If you wanted extra canvas around a photo, that is Image Extender — a different tool.

- Original untouched

FAQ
Questions
What order do I post the tiles?+
Left to right, top to bottom. Start with row1-col1 (top-left) and finish with row3-col3 (bottom-right).
Will Instagram add gaps?+
The profile grid has thin gutters. A continuous image will show a hairline between tiles; that is Instagram, not the slice.
Can I keep the full uncropped photo?+
Yes. We only crop a working copy. The original on your disk is not changed.
Use cases
Where a 3×3 grid is the right cut
Profile art
A poster, a product flat-lay or a portrait that should read as one image on the grid.
Drops and launches
Nine tiles go up in order; the full frame only appears once the last post is live.
Carousels you already shot
You do not need a design tool to cut a square into nine.
Cut the grid and download the zip.
