FLUX.2 (Flux 2)
Black Forest Labs released FLUX.2 on November 25, 2025 as a family: pro and flex through the API, dev as 32-billion-parameter open weights, klein as the small distilled version and max at the top. One model does text-to-image and editing with up to ten reference images. Here is what each variant is for, what the license allows, and what to use in LazyKiwi.

Using it
How to use FLUX.2
LazyKiwi does not run FLUX.2. These are the routes Black Forest Labs and its partners offer.
Hosted: BFL Playground or a partner
FLUX.2 [pro] and [flex] run in the BFL Playground and API; fal, Replicate, Runware, Together, Cloudflare and DeepInfra host dev and pro endpoints with per-image billing.
Local: FLUX.2 [dev] or [klein]
Download the weights from Hugging Face and run them in ComfyUI or diffusers. The card suggests an RTX 4090 or 5090 with a 4-bit quantized model; output is for non-commercial use under the dev license.
Need images now, no setup?
LazyKiwi's image generator runs Z-Image, Qwen Image, Nano Banana and GPT Image 2 in the browser with free credits on sign-up, up to 4K.
What it is
What FLUX.2 is built for
FLUX.2 replaced the FLUX.1 line with one architecture for generation and editing: a 24B Mistral-3 vision-language model paired with a rectified flow transformer and a redesigned VAE. Black Forest Labs sells it on prompt adherence, text rendering and consistent characters across references.
Multi-reference
Up to ten reference images at once
FLUX.2 takes up to 10 reference images in one request and keeps the character, product or style consistent across them, which turns a generator into an editor for product shots and brand sets.
- Up to 10 references per request
- Editing and generation in one model
- Output up to 4MP, any aspect ratio
Variants
pro, flex, dev, klein, max
pro is the production model behind the API; flex exposes steps and guidance for typography and fine detail; dev is the 32B open-weight model on Hugging Face; klein is a size-distilled version for fast iteration, later shipped on-device with ASUS ProArt laptops (June 4, 2026); max is the top-quality tier with grounded generation.
- pro and flex: BFL API and partners
- dev: open weights, 32B parameters
- klein: distilled, Apache 2.0 per the launch post
License
Open weights, but dev is non-commercial
FLUX.2 [dev] ships under the FLUX Non-Commercial License on Hugging Face; commercial output goes through the API models (pro, flex, max) or a separate agreement. The model card points to an RTX 4090 or 5090 for local use with a 4-bit quantized build.
- dev: FLUX Non-Commercial License
- Commercial use: pro / flex / max via API
- Local: RTX 4090 class GPU, 4-bit quantized
What came next
FLUX 3 followed in July 2026
Black Forest Labs announced FLUX 3 on July 23, 2026, then FLUX 3 Video (August 4, 2026) and FLUX 3 Action (September 23, 2026). FLUX.2 remains the open-weight image family most hosts run, and the one people search for by name.
- FLUX 3 announced July 23, 2026
- FLUX 3 Video: August 4, 2026
- FLUX.2 still widely hosted

FAQ
FLUX.2 FAQ
What is FLUX.2?
FLUX.2 is Black Forest Labs' image generation and editing model family announced on November 25, 2025. It makes images from text and edits them with up to ten reference images, at up to 4MP.
What is the FLUX.2 release date?
November 25, 2025 for pro, flex and dev. klein was announced as coming soon at launch and shipped on-device with ASUS ProArt laptops on June 4, 2026.
Is FLUX.2 open source?
FLUX.2 [dev] is open weights (32B parameters) under the FLUX Non-Commercial License, so you can run it locally but not sell its output without a license. The launch post lists klein as Apache 2.0. pro, flex and max are API-only.
Can I use FLUX.2 commercially?
Through the API variants (pro, flex, max) or a commercial license from Black Forest Labs. The Hugging Face card for dev says commercial use is restricted for the open-weight version.
What is the difference between FLUX.2 pro, flex and dev?
pro is the fast production model, flex adds control over steps and guidance for text and fine detail, and dev is the 32B open-weight model for self-hosting. max sits above pro on quality and consistency.
How many reference images does FLUX.2 take?
Up to ten in a single request, keeping the character, product or style consistent across them.
What hardware does FLUX.2 [dev] need?
The model card points to an RTX 4090 or RTX 5090 running a 4-bit quantized model with a remote text encoder. Smaller cards need klein or a hosted endpoint.
Is FLUX 2 the same as FLUX.2?
Yes. Black Forest Labs writes FLUX.2; people search for Flux 2, Flux 2 AI and Flux 2 Pro. FLUX 3, announced July 23, 2026, is the next generation.
Is FLUX.2 free?
The dev and klein weights are free to download for non-commercial use. Hosted endpoints bill per image; check the provider's pricing page for current numbers.
Can I use FLUX.2 in LazyKiwi?
No. LazyKiwi's image generator runs Z-Image, Qwen Image, Nano Banana, Seedream 5.0 and GPT Image 2 instead, in the browser with free credits on sign-up.
Generate and edit images without a GPU
FLUX.2 needs an API key or a 4090. LazyKiwi runs Z-Image, Qwen Image and Nano Banana in the browser, free to start.
